Invisalign and Orthodontic Treatments

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 3:01 pm

Throughout the ages people have wanted straight teeth. Archaeologists have discovered mummified ancients with crude metal bands wrapped around individual teeth to close gaps. Both Hippocrates and Aristotle both conceptualized ways to straighten teeth and fix the various dental conditions. George Washington and his famous wooden teeth also illustrate the need for dental health solutions, but thank goodness they no longer are in the form of wooden teeth. In the early 1900’s dentists were still using gold, platinum, silver, steel, gum rubber and vulcanite to form the braces. It’s interesting that gold was used, but due to the malleability it was a good job, other than the price and need for frequent adjustments. Now, if these early practitioners of orthodontics could see the advances that have been made, surely their mouth would be left hanging open.

  • InvisalignCincinnati Invisalign is utilized to help obtain the smile one dreams of. The invention of Invisalign braces is attributed to Zia Chishti. The company of Align Technology was founded in 1997 by Zia and his business partner Kelsey Wirth with the aims to develop and manufacture the braces. Instead of having one pair of braces that are constantly adjusted, a series of braces are worn in succession until teeth are gradually straightened as desired. The most impressive aspect of Invisalign braces is the ability wearers have to remove the braces for regular teeth cleaning, as well as the affordability due to being created by computers It’s said that both Zia and Wirth had their experiences with braces, which gave them the passion to create an easier solution. It was when Wirth and Zia applied 3-D computer imaging graphics to orthodontics that their idea truly took shape. Many dentists were extremely skeptical to suggest Invisalign to their patients at first, due to the lack of professional dental training by both who created the product.

It’s another attestation to the ingenuity of those who seek an answer. With applied knowledge and hard work, our lives include marvelous technology that make our daily lives easier. To find out additional information about Invisalign or any other dental treatments, contact your Cincinnati dentist for more information.

All About Dental Implants

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 4:38 pm

Tooth loss is something we do our utmost to prevent here at Dental Partners of Boston. However, sometimes it just simply can’t be avoided. Fortunately, thanks to modern-day technologies, walking around with gaps in your smile is no longer something you’ll have to live with. For cases with only one or two missing teeth, Boston dental implants may be the best plan of action. For more serious cases, like those of you with 3 or more missing teeth, or hardly any teeth left at all, we recommend dentures.

As a local Boston dentist, we offer both complete and partial dentures. Complete dentures are used when very little of your original teeth remain. One of our highly specialized dentists will first remove any of your remaining teeth so that your dentures can be fitted. Next, a mold of your gums will be created and sent it off to a dental lab that will create your customized set of dentures. Oh, and don’t worry—we will fit you with a temporary set until your permanent dentures are finished!

Partial dentures are recommended for patients with only a few missing teeth. Not only do partial dentures fill in the spaces created by missing teeth, they prevent other teeth from changing position. Here at Dental Partners of Boston, we are also pleased to offer implant-supported dentures.

If you are missing teeth, or have a loved one or friend that is, request an appointment with one of our dental specialists today. We will work with you to create a individualized plan that best fits your specific needs. There’s no need to live with those gaps any longer! It’s time to fill in the holes and give you a smile you’re proud of.

Don’t Skimp on Responsive Web Design

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 1:56 pm

The internet landscape is constantly changing. 20 years ago, when the online world was still in its infancy, you could get by with writing simple html based web sites on your dial-up pc. Now, if you don’t use css you will be left behind. You really can’t compete without using more complex programming languages like Javascript, Php, Perl, or Ruby on Rails. If you have never even heard of these, than you should definately find a Utah website design company and get them to work for you. As browsers adopt more functionality web design gets more complex. It is a constant race to keep up. It doesn’t help that new internet devices are being created. Smartphones and tablet computers have changed the way that users are able to access the internet and created new obstacles for web designers to overcome.

What is Responsive Web Design?

The biggest change that came from new internet capable devices is variation in screen size. The internet was developed on relatively large computer screens. The languages that were used to code it didn’t really account for tiny screen devices because there were none. Now with a significant percentage of users accessing websites from devices that are easily less than a quarter of he size of a normal computer screen web designers have been forced to adapt.

Responsive web design creates multiple versions of a website that can be presented in response to the kind device that is being used. So someone on a smart phone will see a different presentation than someone on a laptop. This makes it easier for phone users to view your content because they don’t have to zoom in so far.

Why You Need Responsive Design

As already mentioned, the use of smartphones and tablets is increasing. If your site is not responsive you will be losing a significant number of visitors and potential customers because it is difficult to navigate your site on a smaller screen.

Also internet devices allow you to reach consumers in an entirely different setting. Instead of sitting at a desk or on the couch at home, your services can be available to someone on the bus or even in a store. There are numerous ways that you could take advantage of this situation. If your site posts reviews about electronics than you want people to be able to visit your site when they are in Best Buy looking for a new TV. The only way you can do this is with responsive web design.

Don’t miss out on all of the business you could be getting. Find a salt lake city web design agency and have get you a responsive design so you can get into the pockets of your audience.

Why You Need a Sports Pysical

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 3:49 pm

Whether you played a sport as a kid or in high school, you were probably required to get a Kaysville sports physical. These checkups are more than just an awkward annoyance that you have to suffer through. Coaches and Athletic Directors require physicals for a lot of really good reasons.

Illness

Regular sports physicals are a good way to monitor your health. Many serious diseases like cancer have been caught by these routine checkups before they had the chance to turn into something deadly. This is also a good way to detect less serious but still debilitating illnesses like mono or even a simple cold.

Fitness

One of the main things that the doctor is looking for is whether or not you are physically fit enough to engage in the activities of your sport. If you are overweight and extremely out of shape, the doctor might recommend a different training regiment to help ease your body into the condition that it will need to be to keep up with the strains of the sport.

Preexisting Conditions

Things like allergies, genetic conditions, and previous injuries can be significant in the way that coaches treat you in practice as well as how doctors treat you if you are injured. If you are playing soccer it is important for your coach to know that you are deathly allergic to bees so that he can help you in case you get stung. If your family has a history of heart disease then your activity might be limited or closely monitored. This is important information to keep you happy and healthy.

Baseline Testing

A lot of sports injuries need a reference point to tell how severe they are. Concussions especially, fit into this category. There is so much variation in the way that individuals respond to these test that it is impossible to measure one person against the other. During your sports physical your doctor will take measurements that will make later diagnoses easier.

Even though you might not enjoy them, sports physical are an important part of keeping you healthy while you compete. If you are planning on being involved in any athletic activity even if it is just city league softball you should contact Kaysville family medicine and get an appointment for a physical today.

Gold Rush: Reality TV or Not?

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 3:55 pm

Reality shows have brought a lot of attention to relatively obscure industries. Discovery channel’s Gold Rush is a prime example of this. The show follows a few groups of Alaskan gold miners as they try to make a living finding this precious mineral in the harsh northern environment. But like most reality shows, Gold Rush is not typical of the gold mining industry. In many ways the type of mining on the show is antiquated. Although new equipment like a portable conveyor make the old ways easier, the majority of the worlds gold is obtained by an entirely different process.

Placer Mining

The miners in the show use the same methods that have been around for centuries. Basically they find an area where gold has been liberated from its containing materials by natural processes like water flow. That is why the early gold rushes occurred around rivers and creeks. If you pay attention to the show, you will notice the miners in it are doing the same thing. They find a likely location near a river where sediments have been deposited for years and then they separate the gold from the rest of the dirt.

The best way to separate the gold is by exploiting the fact that it is much heavier than any of the other materials around it. The simplest method is panning. the process begins when a small amount of gold bearing sediment is put into a pan with water. the pan is shaken so that the heavier gold sinks to the bottom and the lighter dirt is washed away. Every other method is just a variation of panning. The machines that are used on the TV show are just mechanical, larger scale, versions of panning.

Open Pit Mining

This is the most common method of obtaining Gold. An open pit mine is basically what is says, it is a giant hole in the ground that gold comes out of. The biggest difference from placer mining is that gold in an open pit is still trapped in the rock. The method works by removing huge amounts of material from the pit and processing it so that gold can be taken out. Giant trucks are constantly moving in and out of the mine, leaving their loads on a vertical conveyor that transports the ore to a refinery where it is smelted and everything that is not gold gets burned away.

Although the reality show does present a real method of mining, it definitely does not represent the entire reality of the gold mining industry.

Four Things to Remember When Selling a Business Online

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 12:53 pm

When you’re trying to sell a business, it is important to understand how the Internet affects the sales process. The Web expands your base of potential buyers and allows quick connection like nothing else before, but it also increases a buyer’s choices. Know how to use the Internet to your advantage to sell your business.

1. Put your online ad where the right buyers will find it. For example, if you’re selling a dental practice, post your ad on a site upcoming dentists will be looking for it like post-doctorate training sources and local dental association blogs. There are specialized sites for all kinds of businesses and industries on the Web.

2. Use the Web to facilitate face to face opportunities. Don’t expect an ad to sell your business. If it’s good it will give you a chance to do that yourself. Your ad should include relevant info the buyer will want to see – years in business, description of services, asking price, why you’re selling, and plenty of contact options – especially things that are impressive. You may want to hold off on revealing the name of your business as it may strain your relationships with employees, suppliers, and clients.

3. Work with a specialized business broker. This isn’t like finding a Realtor to sell your home. Every industry has unique challenges. A broker who is well versed in your market and its legal environment who knows how to sell a dental practice will save you time and hopefully get you more money on your sale. They will help you set a smart asking price, place online ads for your business, and handle online inquiries.

4. Don’t forget your business. If you’re looking forward to retirement it’s often a temptation to ease out of your business. Don’t do this. When selling a dental practice online, for example, it’s easy to become preoccupied by who’s looking at your online ads, and curious but probably not fruitful emails (You’ll see a lot of those selling online). Keep your promotions active and your office looking good. Whittling down your patient base start your retirement early will cost you in your dental practice sale price.

Space Mining: Reality or Pipe Dream?

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 3:49 pm

You may have heard recent news about the possibility of extracting minerals from asteroids (you know, those big rocks hurtling through space at incredible speeds). Although it may sound like something out of a science fiction story, the investors in this project are quite serious. Big names like director James Cameron, of Avatar and Titanic fame, and Larry Page,co-founder of Google, have gotten on board with the California based company that aims to achieve this colossal feat.

Asteroid RICHE$

While the technological advancements in the last few decades make such an endeavour possible, the probability that it will occur is still very much in question. So before you go predicting the downfall of traditional mining and selling your incline conveyor and your hard hat and sink all of your cash into space mining stock, remember that we still have a long way to go before this concept becomes a reality. regular earth bound mining is not going anywhere for a while

Obstacles to Space Mining

Perhaps the biggest obstacle to space mining it that you are mining in SPACE! It took human beings years of dedicated work just to get a man to orbit the earth. Since then we have been on the moon and we have learned how to space walk, but the idea of sending human beings out for extended periods of time while performing dangerous tasks seems like a stretch. More likely, some kind of robotic mining system will have to be used. This means untold millions in development. If a feasible machine is developed what happens when it breaks down, as it most assuredly will, during a crucial aspect of the mining process. Do you build another robot to fix the first robot? What if that one breaks? Do you have a robot to fix the robot that is supposed to fix the original robot?

In addition to the harsh environment of deep space, distance is a big problem. Communication with the miners or robots would be delayed by the time it takes for the message to travel. It also takes a lot of resources to even get to the mining site. The mining equipment would likely be heavy and, unless it was constructed in orbit, it would take an incredible amount of fuel to push it out of Earth’s gravity.

Advantage of Earth Mining

Our home planet has numerous resources still available, especially the kind that could be obtained from asteroids. Obviously asteroids would not have any of fossil fuels, since oil and gas come from organic sources. Space mining would be focused mainly on minerals like iron and nickel. But other technological advances, like recycling, have made these resources more available. One of the touted advantages of space mining is that it has no effect on our environment. Any waste products of the space mining would be left out in space. but with new advances in mining technology the environmental footprint of traditional mining has been greatly reduced. Hydraulic fracturing is one method that has come about over the last few years which allows for mineral extraction while minimizing the effect on the surface environment.

While it is still to early to tell if space mining will be a reality there is no question that it is still a gamble. Any significant advancements won’t happen for a long time. If you are the kind of person who likes to see the results of their actions during their lifetime, then you might want to invest in a frac sander company before blasting your savings into space.

Helping Kids Stay Attentive and Alert in the Classroom

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 1:59 pm

Every good teacher knows their curriculum is what makes or breaks them, especially at the middle to high school levels. This day and age kids need to be stimulated or their mind is halfway around the world, building an airship capable of space travel or training with monks in Tibet. What is it that allows kids to succeed? Is it adding a little competition, such as a stock market game, teaching kids about trading and investing plus pitting themselves against their fellow peers? Is it allowing time for outdoor stimulation so their is a healthy balance between mind and body? Teachers around the nation have supplied their feedback in efforts of helping educators that find themselves struggling with keeping their students attention span focused on what is being taught.

  • Active Learning – Many teachers implement the practice of active learning. Children usually have the mentality of, “Why should I be paying attention if other students aren’t?”. This puts teachers in a very precarious place, but not one that is impossible to control. A fantastic book which acts as a resource for this method is Inspiring Active Learning. One great idea is that students pay less attention when the lesson is coming from a teacher, but pay much more attention when students are utilized in the teaching of the lesson. This puts themselves in the role of teacher, which is a form of make-believe that can be incredibly beneficial. I suggest checking out the book to see how active learning can help you in your classroom routines.
  • Classroom Games – Now, this can be somewhat of a touchy subject, as different teachers have varied opinions on whether or not games help or hurt the efforts of their teaching. My input would be that it greatly depends upon the game you’re playing. For example, a local high school economics teacher friend of mine started using a virtual stock exchange game in her classroom called SmartStocks. This game allows kids the opportunity to learn the basics of the stock market, supplies them with all currently traded stocks, and provides a little friendly competition between their fellow classmates. Not only has this helped them understand the way trading works (which I never had the chance to learn as a teenager), but it gives them some of the most important skills required for economics, which is keeping up to date on the happenings of the market. I guess the advice would be, pick the games you’ll implement in your classroom wisely. Don’t pick something that gives very little learning just for the sake of distraction.
  • Daily Routine Boosters – Now this is not one specific activity, but several throughout the day that help kids stay alert and attentive.
    • Mind Warm-Up – An example of a mind warm up would be to have kids help you find mistakes in content you supply through a handout or written on the board, aiding greatly your efforts in having the kids learn specific details regarding curriculum material.
    • Simple Exercise – Jumping jacks, pushups, or simply stretching their muscles periodically keeps blood flowing to not only the brain, but other parts of the body as well. Find an exercise that is appropriate for your classroom age level.
    • Working Together! – A lesson that is vital in teaching young children is the importance of working together. Exercises and activities that require collaboration teaches this principle as well as the important social interaction that many children miss out on during the day.

While this brief article contains a few helpful suggestions, there are countless resources for teachers on helping their students learn effectively and efficiently.

Unforgettable LDS Church History Vacations

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 5:38 pm

The most memorable vacations combine fun, relaxation, beauty, and history. For LDS people, historic church sites can add a pleasant devotional element. Here are a few ideas that can help you plan an LDS church history vacation your family won’t forget.

Restored Nauvoo – The City of Nauvoo was the site of many significant events in church history. Today, much of the city is restored to the way it looked during its peak in the 1840s, complete with period authentic actors in some of the houses. The operational rebuilt temple is a replica of the original one dedicated in 1846. You can stay at hotels in Nauvoo, IL occupying original historic buildings and travel through the old city by horse carriage. If you time it right, the Nauvoo Pageant is a perfect way to spend a summer night.

Extended church history tours – If you have a little more time, you can take an extended tour of church history sites. Take a tour starting in Palmyra, NY going through Kirtland, Independence, Far West, and Ending in Nauvoo. Transportation is completely taken care of as are Palmyra to Nauvoo hotels and food. Or look into Book of Mormon tours to Central America. You’ll see sites that coincide with places in the Book of Mormon while enjoying a relaxing Caribbean cruise.

Salt Lake City vacation – If you’re outside of Utah, this can be a rich opportunity to see many church history sites. See Temple Square and the historic Joseph Smith Memorial Building, visit Brigham Young’s home and grave site and This is the Place Heritage Park. You can also take advantage of the many wonderful outdoor activities in Utah. Catch a Park City airport shuttle for an amazing ski vacation.

Martin’s Cove handcart trek – Visit the site where members of the Willie and Martin handcart companies were rescued in 1856. Listen to their inspiring stories and experience what it feels like to pull an actual handcart. You can generally sign up for a handcart trek when you arrive. This might not be your idea of relaxation, but it will be memorable. Martin’s Cove is less than a day’s drive from Salt Lake City.

Three Features of the Best Specialized Conveyor Belts

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 5:40 pm

Belt conveyors for bulk materials that don’t quite fit your operation can be like having shoes that don’t fit. They affect everything else you do. It’s important to have the right belting system that will allow your production line to move efficiently. Here are three specifications you should look for when shopping for your belt conveyor.

Non-laminated rubber belt – If you’ve ever had a belt split or delaminate, lose cleats from your conveyor belting, or have a sidewall detach; you’re well acquainted with laminated belting. This is an even greater problem for portable conveyor belt systems that are exposed to heat, cold and moisture.

Most conveyor belts comprise separately cured uppers glued to a base belt. This technique makes construction simple, but it also creates weakness in the belt that will culminate in a short lifespan and potential for total failure during heavy use. Higher quality homogeneously cured belts, like Camflex, increase wear of the belt because there are no seams to come apart.

Thoughtfully engineered belt shape – All bulk materials don’t behave the same way on a conveyor belt. Moving sand isn’t the same as moving barley or coal. Studded conveyor belting is ideal sand, but not for everything. It’s important to get a belt ideally shaped to convince your kind of material forward. This could be stud cleats, a chevron track, horizontal cleats, or a troughed belt. A belt manufacturer should be well acquainted with practical applications of his product, so look for evidence of a company’s hands on research.

Durable flexible walls – Built on wall often have issues when laminated but when made with one-piece molded construction they do very well. They make a huge difference in keeping product on the belt, out of your conveyor innards, and away from your work area. Innovative walled belts are constructed in a zig-zag shape that fans out as the belt rounds the conveyor’s end.

Having durable, specialized belt conveyors for bulk materials at your facility may be one of the most important things you can do to promote efficiency in your business. Do your research and expect the most from your belt manufacturer.
